Moon of Ōuenuku
In Aotearoa, New Zealand, our tūpuna (ancestors) recorded the names of the moons and observed trends with nature associated with those moons. I am inspired by this knowledge. Kia ora. This is your maramataka Māori moon report for Ōuenuku.
This is the fourth night of the lunar month called Ōuenuku (note for some tribes/iwi/hapū this is the nineteenth night of the lunar month, there are a few knowledge systems depending on your home longitude and latitude). Ōuenuku is the moon in it's early waxing building phase, 12% illumination. This can be a primo day and night - building energy, ideal for laying down seedling beds, planting and fishing.
Big mihi to Rereata Makiha, Rangi Matamua and Reuben Taipari for sharing their knowledge.
